So my mom and dad come over to visit tonight and they tell me about a surprise phone call they received this week from one of the squadron members. I was so excited to hear this because my dad never used to talk about his Vietnam experience. Back in high school and college, I would beg him to tell me stories for history papers but he wouldn't say much. Hopefully some of you can share some stories with me about my dad.
His birthday is coming up March 23rd and I would love to put together a scrapbook for him (a surprise so let's not tell him). Our house burned down when I was in the third grade so my dad lost all of his pictures and medals. Any advice on how I could get replacements? My grandmother left me her photos and memorabilia which I plan to eventually scan and share with others.
Oh I guess I should also update you on my dad's whereabouts...He and my mom live in Dover, TN. He retired from Procter & Gamble in Jackson, TN about 10 years ago after working there for 26 years. I'm a daddy's girl so excuse my bias, but he's the best dad in the world! All my nieces and nephews think he's the best grandpaw too. He spoils us all rotten! Now that he's retired he enjoys living in the middle of nowhere on a farm with a crappie stocked pond. He takes all the grandkids fishing and he's also great with woodwork. He made some beautiful coffetables for my sister and me. Sorry to ramble so long. Thanks for reading and please send me your stories!! diannagee@gmail.com (BTW, my dad refuses to get on the internet. He thinks we younger people spend too much time on it.) However if you want to send him a note, he knows I'm on the site and I will print out the emails for him.
