Enrique,
Thanks for getting a hold of me. I never thought you'd remember the Navy corpsmen that served but I was wrong. The experience in Vietnam was traumatic for me when Navy corpsman Dan Bennett was killed. Quite often I wanted to forget but with some counseling, I need to remember. Thanks.

MIKE, I GUESS WE BOTH READ THE RETIRED NEWSLETTER LAST NIGHT. I WAS LOGGING IN TO TELL EVERYONE THE SAME THING. GUNNY EBERT WAS AT THE REUNION IN PENSACOLA IN 98 AND THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I TALKED WITH HIM.
ALSO GYSGT G.V. GLEN WAS LISTED AS PASSED AWAY. HE WAS WITH US IN HMM-165 IN 1972. HE WAS OUR H-53 SECTION LEADER. HE WAS ONE OF THE OLD BREED. LIKED HIS BEER COLD. WE HAD A HELL OF A TIME IN HONG KONG DURING CHRISTMAS ' 72.

Lost in Missouri: Hey guys, I really ain't lost, after two tours in Nam, I kicked around as a civilian hospital administrator, short order cook, deputy sheriff, and finally went to college joined ROTC, and wound up in the Army for another 10 years. Retired from there, taught high school history for one year, then became a GS-9 Mobilization Specialist, and later an admin officer for a psychiatric division, then a contract security cop at Camp Doha. Now I just home school one of my grandsons, pick berries, mow grass, etc. Planning on making the activities on 15 Aug, hope to see ya'll there. Bert Holloway, Former S-2 Chief.

Hilliard was a driver in the Motor Transport section. He was one of the guys we had not heard from. Mike , your dad served with a great unit in the early days of the Vietnam war. He was one of our truck drivers. Dave McGehee and Dave Kelley are probably your best sources for info because they worked with him.
I am sorry to see that he passed away at such a young age. Many of us are dying from a variety of illnesses mostly derived from Agent Orange exposure. I will try to get in touch with kelley and Mcgehee and they can then contact you.

I would like to say thank you for your response to my posting. Of course I would love to here from anyone how know my father during this time of his life. Any help filling in some of the gaps that I am not able to ask my father for anymore would be greatly appreciated. I would still like to share the dd-215 with you all.
My father left the USMC as a Corporal. , sharpshooters badge, sharpshooters pistol, Navy Cmmendation Medal W/ Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Deffense Service MMedal W/ Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal W/ Ribbon, witch was replaced with the Vietnam Service medal W/ Ribbon and 2 Bronze stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/ Palm Unit Citation Award, Vietnam CAmpaign Medal W/ Ribbon, USMC Good Conduct Medal W/ Ribbon, and the USMC lapel Pen.
I have tried and tried to get the Combat Action Ribbon for the 6 days of combat on post and the other mission he was involved in where all of you were under fire. and the bronze V for combat on his Navy Commendation Medal the Marine Corps. just will not dig in to see that they should be there.
any ways there you have it. I hope someone will update his profile on this sight so that you can all see his awards and badges.
I will look in from time to time to see if the gental men you mention have tried to make contact with me I would again like to say thank you for all of your help.

Was the HMM-365 the only US Marine unit in Vietnam in 1964?

Brother Marines,
"Top"Caruselle passed away on August 20, 1992.
I am just discovering this message board. I am his son, First Lieutenant USMC Joseph. J. Caruselle (Vietnam Era). His grandson, LCPL USMC Allen J. Caruselle (3 Iraq tours) carries on the family's Marine Corps tradition.
Dad loved the squadron. More than anything, his tours with HMM - 365 defined him as a Marine.
