I just received an invitation for HMM-365 Vietnam squadron members to the Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, Ninth Marine Regiment 45th Year Reunion. The reunion will be held in San Clemente from June 21 to 27, 2009 and the banquet will be June 25.
I will post more information about the reunion as I get more information. This is a great opportunity to reunite with infantry company that supported us in November '64 thru January '65 in DaNang and we, in turn, supported them at the first landing in March 1965.
I will post the original email and invitation after I get back to my main computer at home.

Here are parts of the email I received from Terry Arthun. I've taken the liberty of editing some of the information until everything is firmed up.
Lima Company, Third Battalion Ninth Marines, Third Marine Division (Reinforced) 1964-1965. Lima Company as you recall was the Marine Security Guard Detachment for Task Element 79.3.3.6 later the Marine Unit Vietnam during the months of November, December, January 1964-1965.
August 7, 1964 3/9 was mobilized for the Gulf of Tonkin crisis. We integrated into the Ninth Marine Expeditionary Brigade and stayed on station floating up and down coast of Vietnam until we stood down October 16, 1964.
We reported in to Sub Unit # 2 on Thanksgiving Day November 26, 1964. We flew out of Da Nang by government air January 23, 1965, for Subic Bay the Philippines where we rejoined 3/9 (once again integrating into the Ninth Marine Expeditionary Brigade) and sailed therefrom, later that afternoon.
From January 24, until March 8, 1965, we floated up and down the coast of Vietnam (accept for an occasional short stops in Subic Bay). 3/9 was the first ground combat Infantry Battalion to land in Vietnam spearheading The Third Marine Division (Reinforced) into Vietnam War. Note: you good folks were on the Princeton in support us. Previously when assigned to Marine Unit Vietnam we were in support of you guys. Lima Company was the lead unit from Red Beach 2 to the Da Nang Air Base and the hills beyond.
From June 21, 27 2009 Lima Company will have their tenth gathering to be held in San Clemente, California. We held our first reunion June 19-22 1975 in San Diego, California I hosted that reunion too!
The banquet to be held Thursday, June 25, 2009, at San Clemente, Calif.
Of course, we can provide you with an itinerary for the whole reunion week events. Including our Memorial services to be held at the Marine Memorial and tribute site San Clemente, California. You are welcome to attend all events.
We are expecting upwards of 75 3/9 Marines and family members to attend. We always open up our reunions to any member of 3/9 and we do get quite a few. HMM-365, Sub Unit 2 MABS 16 its officer's and men will always hold a special place in the heart and soul of the Marines of Lima Company 3/9 Ninth Marine Regiment, Third Marine Division (reinforced) 1964/1965.
On a personal note for a very young 19 year old Private First Class I was at awe with your units courage and professionalism. You folks had an awesome mess hall, the bamboo room and outstanding chow!
We would also like to extend another personal invitation to Major General Joseph Koler, Jr., we understand he lives in southern California. We would be happy to send formal written invitations to you both once we would receive a home or business address. For our first reunion in 1975 Brigadier General Fredrick J. Karch was our General officer guest of honor. We certainly would be proud and honored if Major General Koler would speak to us also!
In closing Enrique, I love your poetry, I deeply respect your devotion to your unit and fellow Marines. You have an outstanding WEB site which provides among its many great attributes an accurate and deeply moving tribute to a great group of Marine Aviators. Last but certainly not least, how we all appreciate HMM-365 its officer and men 1964/1965 for the many, many American and Vietnamese lives you saved. It would be an honor and privilege if we once again could come together to rekindle old friendships.
Semper Fi!

Here are two emails that I received this morning. Hello Enrique,
Please find enclosed an informational letter about Lima Company's reunion being held June 21-27 2009. I will have reunion week's itinerary send out to you shortly.
So happy to read you are considering writing a book about HMM-365 1964-1965 Vietnam tour of duty. That certainly was a very unique and critical period (the fall and winter operations 1964-1965) of the Vietnam War.
With the typhoons, floods, Med Caps, combat air operations and the great humanitarianism consistently showed to the peoples of the republic of Vietnam their is a lot to be shared with the reader.
I wanted to pass this information on to your Marines: we are going to have the Video of the 1964 Bob Hope Christmas show and of the March 8, 1965, landing which will play all week in our hospitality room. We have one of our members who is in a VIP in the education field he has contacts with the Library of Congress from which he will be obtaining a copy of the show and landing.
I will keep you updated!
Best regards,
Terry Arthun
